Our world spins and it seems so fun, overwhelming, and exciting.  Our life is anything but Ordinary.  I was never the kind of girl that liked to follow, I really like to be unique and not in a crazy way. There was no “Goth” in my past. My mom told me one time that I…

When No One is Looking

When I was a child I would look up at all of the banners in the lunchroom and the ones in our classrooms; they were words of encouragement with a “you can do it” attitude. I love quotes, always have. Maybe it came from the lunch room growing up, or maybe I was always impressed…

Andrea K. Grist - This is a great post. I often have the opportunity to look at the pictures from our wedding clients and some of my favorites are the candid moments. I think the fact that you are so tuned in to your clients and focused on capturing those details is awesome! It’s a great testament to your professionalism.

G. Tank - Years ago when I was in Basic Training we would get up every morning(way too early…) and go stand outside in formation and recite our core values. We would all belt out the phrase “integrity first, service before self and excellence in all we do” without really taking the time to stop and think about what it was we were saying. So after a few weeks of this, one of the other trainee’s asked our instructor what this stuff actually means, what does it really mean to have integrity. Our instructors answer was “doing the right thing, even when no one is looking”.

As someone who seems to hold myself to a higher standard of behavior, these are rare traits to find in others. This post reaffirms how excited I am to have you and Marco be a part of our wedding. I’ll be back in the states in a month, and the ceremony is only 3 months away! Thank you for reminding me about what I have to look forward to when I come home.

Jennifer via Facebook - You do speak truth with this Erin… I love it, and I loved the pictures. Those are definitely some heartfelt ones that the grandfather will cherish!

Coleman via Facebook - well… im glad i could help… i spose… just callin it like i see it. i guess thats part of why i like old abandoned buildings. kind of a similar thing… no one is looking… but there is always truth there

via Facebook - Thank you. That was a very nice comment. You made my day.

Coleman via Facebook - i left you a comment on your blog :)

Coleman - those have always been my favorite photos… and probably always well be. im not a big fan of studio setups. i prefer those rare, candid moments when no one thinks anyone else is looking that you can see the “real” person show through.

especially in your line of work… it shows the love that is really there. it gives a chance for the emotions to come through naturally, rather than having one of us “say cheese” kinda things, and the subjects are “forced” to smile.

every shoot i have done has always more of a dialog between myself and the person im shooting, rather than me placing them in a certain pose. i cant really say were i got it… but some how, i feel like my presence is to show the world what i see, not necessarily what i think the world wants to see, if that makes any sense.

but maybe its just that you have a better vision than i do, not sure, but i have always loved your work

Photos of the Studio: Photos Edge

Many have been asking so the other day I decided to post photos of our space.  We have had it for several years now and the photos that are on Facebook are still of the empty not-even-finished floor of what we call Our Studio.  These photos were taken really fast and don’t show all the amazing…

Portrait Photographers of America: Contest Time

On January 1st I set some goals for myself and my business.  Some of those goals have been a lot easier to obtain than others.  But a lot of good things come with immense effort.  I had a goal to enter several photography contests this year. Several contests have gone by and I haven’t been…
