Best Candid Wedding Photos: Geoff and Franchesca
The snow was falling that morning and when I waked in I was amazed at the beautiful Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawnee. I met the church coordinator first thing to see what the rules and regulations were for this wonderful day. It was standard, no flash photography and we could go anywhere but up at the altar, she spoke with a beautiful accent I think it was Scottish dont quote me on that one. She showed me where the girls were getting ready and I walked into a sea of yellow and a more than ecstatic bride. Franchesca lit up, she was beautiful and all smiles. I was so happy, I kept smiling with her. It was one of those jump up and down I am getting married moments with a few butterflies because well, this is happening in front of all kinds of people. The first time Geoff saw Franchesca she was being escorted by her father down the isle. Geoff was in love, he couldnt take his eyes off her and the closer Fran got to him the larger both of their smiles became. The ceremony was underway and in just a few minutes these two would be man and wife. After the romantic ceremony we headed out for killer portraits; I love the shots of Frans face on Geoffs chest, the two of them walking away, and her sweet laugh as he is made all kinds of funny faces. It really was fun. We were headed towards a day filled with candid shots beginning in the limo ride and ending with the last shot of the night. This wedding produced the best candid wedding photos. There is nothing else that I can saythe BEST! Everyone had fun. This was an amazing Kansas City Wedding. It was truly about a bunch of people coming together to celebrate Geoff and Franchesca. And they did! I think that Geoff is the funniest man I have ever met. If he ever does a comedy show I want to know. He made me laugh so many times my abs hurt, everyone enjoyed themselves and we not only created the AMAZING portraits that I am known for but we also took pictures of all their friends being fun and crazy and showing off their personalities. The more we took photos the more ideas I got, it was amazing to just get creative on the spot and really capture who this couple is with their friends. The night moved by so fast, all of the colored lights illuminating the dance floor made for some wonderful dancing shots. I really like photographing receptions at The Pavilion. We know the dj there and the owners, and we get to do just about anything making some really cool photos. Fran and Geoff, the bridal party, and ALL of their guests rocked it out.

I just love this Bright Happy Yellow Kansas City Wedding.

A beautiful wedding is like a favorite song. It has a melody and rhythm, peaks and valleys. It is harmonious and even in the imperfections it is perfect. It doesnt matter if it is a huge concerto or a soft simple ballad, there is a movement that creates emotion above and beyond anything I have ever felt. It makes me want to dance with joy, cry with love, and always remember.

Max and Katrina had a beautiful wedding. Saying Katrina was beautiful is a huge understatement; its like saying Mozart was good. Mozart was AMAZING and even that is still and understatement, I have sang Mozart and played his musicIts hard and wonderful. I met my husband in Mozarts Don Giovanni; we were both singers. Max and Katrinas wedding was nothing less to me than Mozarts opera. I Loved it! Katrina and I have a love that is very similar: DOORS. Not the band (I love them as well). No, beautiful doors filled with designs and color. Classy, Regal, Big, Different: this is how I would describe all the doors we photographed Max and Katrina in front of. It was hot, really really hot and though most would complain Max and Katrina didnt. They stood there like supermodels while I got to do everything I could have imagined. Max and Katrina trusted me and I composed a symphony of beautiful photos from their wedding day. From the first photo of her dress hanging on a church door, to the one of her standing in front of that same door before she first walked into the church, all the way to some of the most beautiful photojournalism ever. Her dad crying while they danced I loved it. There really wasnt much of a shot list or wants from the bride and groom so I did what I do best and created art with their memories. It was like music, the kind that touches the sole. I am honored to have been able to record it for them to play over and over again. Enjoy!

Justin and Amber: a Lovely Kansas City Wedding
The Look. The first time he saw her walking down the isle, its that moment, when the groom first sees the bride. Before 27 Dresses ever thought about being released or transformed into a movie. I was one of the few, one of those people who would stand up and look for a window to see the groom, instead of turning around to watch the bride. Just to see how much he loved her. This was a hard choice for me; I love me some pretty dresses! But love I LOVE love! It makes me cry, it moves me, and it proves to me every time the groom melts into tears at the sight of his bride, it proves True Love.

Justin was in love. He adored Amber and she returned his love; she matched his enthusiasm. She will honor him and love him, and he will do the same. All too often people get caught up in the idea of A Wedding and they forget about two people becoming one. Justin and Amber were excited to be married, and their passion was refreshing. Amber had waited for the perfect guy, while Justin wrote letters to his future wife for 7 years without knowing who it would be. On their wedding day, just before they walked down the isle, they exchanged very special gifts. Amber gave Justin her purity ring, and he gave her the letters he had written to his wife, whom she was about to become.

I am happy and honored to have been a part of Justin and Ambers day, to preserve their history. I was moved at the commitment these two had before they even knew each other. Beautiful, memorable, and romantic.

Winter Wonderland Fairy Tale Wedding: Lauren and Justin
The snow crackled under my feet as I quickly walked toward the old water-works castle. The day was beautiful, I loved how the light reflected off the snow. There was this unspeakable joy throughout the day of passing smiles between Lauren and Justin. Moments the two of them shared and I was apart of, just looking on towards true love. I know, I know, I sound so sappy now. But it REALY was BEAUTIFUL!!!! The pink bridesmaids dresses were perfect and looked amazing in the snow, absolutely fabulous. I have to tell you about Nicole, Laurens sister, who did the make-up. Nicole sells Mary Kay and is a wonderful make-up artist; she did almost every womans make-up associated with the wedding. I was incredibly impressed, so I thought that I would spread the LOVE!

Here are some of my favorite photos of Lauren and Justins Winter Wonderland Wedding in Kansas City.

Thomas and Miranda s Kansas Wedding
It was dark and I swore that I didnt do anything wrong. I looked over at Marco and asked him if I was going too slow. I often get caught up in singing when I drive and since my cruise control shorted out when I got the car detailed last, I often go too slow. The lights were really bright in my rearview and the car was really close. So, I moved over into the right lane after I slowly passed the even slower person to my right thinking that the cop would go on by. But no, it followed me. I was sure that I had done nothing wrong. The cop pulled up behind me and got out with his flash light, walking up to the car looking into the back seat were there was nothing but water bottles and 5 hour energy drinks laying about. I had my dome-lights on and both hands on the wheel: 2 and 10. I remembered this position because sometime when I was in school this cop came to visit. He said that he often lets people off who do that, he said that it is really scary walking up to a car at night when you cant see anything, so if someone minimizes that fear they are more likely to let them go. I always follow that rule. The officer asked me, Do you know why I pulled you over? I honestly could say, I dont know. He asked me what I was doing, then I had to explain that I was headed through Abilene on my way to Great Bend for a wedding I was photographing the next day! He told me that I changed lanes without signaling. First I didnt officially know that was illegal, I kinda thought that the turn signal was a nice gesture, you know like the yellowish orange speed limit signs that are suggestions when exiting/ entering an onramp. I also believe whole heartedly that I had in fact used my turn signal. I left with a warning. Once we were off I turned to Marco and said, That was WeIRd! He said, Yep, and so was the other cop on my side of the car. I didnt even know there was a cop on Marcos side of the car. Huuuummmmmmmm For a turn signal???? We had a great sing-along drive and got to the hotel late that night.

The wedding was Beautiful! Thomas and Miranda were so sweet and so in love. They would take little moments throughout their day to just smile at each other. Miranda and I had planned on stopping somewhere along the way from Great Bend where the two were married, to Topeka where their reception would be help, and jump out and take pictures in a field. Mirandas red hair, beautiful dress, and the golden fields would look smashing for pictures. We also found an abandoned old gas station that fit their wonderful urban sense of adventure. The wedding was wonderful. Everyone danced and danced throughout their reception. Thomas cousin, a fantastic dj from Vegas, rocked the place all night. It was fantastic, did I say fantastic?!!!!! From old to young, this clubin rock off late-night party lasted until the location was all cleaned up. This wedding will always hold a special place in my heart because I went to high school with Thomas and I love it when LOVE finds my friends.
